Before the introduction of collectionHQ, staff at Chattanooga Public Library relied on anecdotal evidence and bestseller lists to plan selection. Implementing collectionHQ offered a comprehensive tool to budget and select new titles, opening the team’s eyes to the possibilities of big data. ESP was later introduced to support selection further by recommending which new and pre-published titles to buy and how many based on circulation evidence.
With ESP, the library has achieved:
- An increase in circulation from 600,000 to 1,000,000
- Higher turnover
- A reduction of material that has never circulated or is Dead on Arrival (DOA)
